Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information we process, why we use it, how it is protected, and how you can exercise privacy rights.

Effective and last updated:

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how Markt Welt processes personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, customer accounts, vendor and business tools, restaurant or pharmacy services, courier workflows, support channels, and related marketplace services.

It applies to customers, vendors, restaurant and pharmacy personnel, couriers, staff users, visitors, and other people who interact with the platform.

2. Information we collect

  • Account and identity information: name, username, email address, telephone number, account role, verification status, and authentication records.
  • Order and transaction information: items, quantities, prices, taxes, discounts, payment method, payment status, returns, refunds, disputes, settlements, and invoices.
  • Delivery and location information: delivery address, region, city, selected market, delivery instructions, and fulfilment events.
  • Marketplace information: product listings, business details, licences or credentials where required, inventory, reviews, messages, and support requests.
  • Device and usage information: IP address, browser or app information, session identifiers, security events, logs, cookies, and interactions with platform features.
  • Communications: email, telephone, WhatsApp, support, complaint, and account-verification communications.
  • Sensitive or regulated information: information required for pharmacy, fraud-prevention, compliance, or identity-verification processes where those services are used and applicable law permits the processing.

3. How we use information

We process information to provide and secure accounts; verify users and businesses; operate carts, orders, delivery, payments, returns, refunds, and settlements; provide support; prevent fraud and abuse; maintain audit and compliance records; improve platform reliability; and meet legal or regulatory obligations.

The legal basis for a particular activity depends on the service, the relationship involved, and applicable law. It may include performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests, protection of users and the platform, or consent where consent is required.

4. How information is shared

We may share the minimum information needed with sellers, restaurants, pharmacies, couriers, payment and communications providers, hosting and security providers, professional advisers, regulators, law-enforcement bodies, or other parties involved in completing a transaction or meeting a lawful obligation.

Marketplace participants receive only the information reasonably required for their role. They are responsible for handling that information lawfully and securely.

5. Account verification and communications

New customer accounts may require email verification. We process the email address, verification status, short-lived verification token, expiry information, request metadata, and security events needed to confirm control of the address and protect the account.

Support communications may take place through the contact channels published by MarktWelt. Do not send passwords, access tokens, application secrets, database credentials, or other unnecessary sensitive information through support channels.

6. Payments and pharmacy services

Payment providers may process card, bank, wallet, or other payment details. MarktWelt generally receives transaction references, status, method, amount, currency, and fraud or reconciliation information needed to operate the marketplace.

Pharmacy features may require additional information to assess eligibility, fulfil regulated products, maintain professional records, or comply with health and pharmacy obligations. Access should be limited to authorised personnel and retained only as required by applicable duties.

7. Cookies and similar technology

We use session and security technologies needed for login, language, market selection, carts, fraud prevention, and platform operation. Optional analytics or marketing technologies should be used only where configured and permitted by applicable consent requirements.

8. Retention and security

We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, complete transactions, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, maintain security and audit evidence, meet tax or accounting duties, comply with legal obligations, and enforce agreements.

Deletion does not always mean immediate removal of every record. Some records may be retained, restricted, anonymised, or pseudonymised when required for legal, safety, fraud-prevention, financial, pharmacy, dispute, or compliance reasons.

Security measures include access controls, authentication protections, encryption where appropriate, logging, backups, webhook validation, controlled administrative roles, and monitoring. No system can guarantee absolute security.

9. International transfers

Marketplace operations and service providers may involve processing in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate contractual, organisational, or legal safeguards for international transfers.

10. Your privacy rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, receive a portable export, correct, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, and to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent.

We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request. Rights can be limited where retention or processing is required by law or necessary to protect other people, transactions, security, or legal claims.

11. Account and data deletion

You can start an account and personal-data erasure request from our dedicated deletion page. The request enters the platform's controlled privacy workflow for identity verification, review, approval, fulfilment, and audit evidence.

Open the Account and Data Deletion page.

12. Children

The platform is not intended for children who cannot lawfully enter into the relevant transaction or provide valid consent in their jurisdiction. Parents or guardians who believe a child has provided personal information should contact us.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when services, legal requirements, or processing practices change. The effective date at the top of the page identifies the current published version.
